In 2012 My Entire Life Changed...
Born and raised in Aurora, Colorado I grew up with the Rocky Mountains just hours away. College brought me to Fort Collins, Colorado while I attended Colorado State University (Go Rams, Boo Buffs!) and attained a degree in Communication Studies. Really, I learned a little bit in my classes, met amazing people, drank a lot of Bud Light and started my first business, Stich Clothing, established in 2004! Stich Clothing was supposed to be all about originality!! Well, when you have to order 300 of the same shirt, it is pretty hard to keep it original. But, I had some amazing friends and dorm mates that kept my dream alive for a couple years at least! You love my spiked hair? I know!
After College I had the pleasure of working at one of the worlds largest major brewers and Fortune 50 companies. I loved working at a brewery and also leading teams. After 4 years I felt it was my time to move on and experience something else. After moving to Denver I found myself working at one of the nations top big box retailers in the stores as a Team Leader. My brother Ben and several of his friends would call me from time to time and attempt to get me to move up here to the Twin Cities. At first it was an immediate, Hell No! But, in 2012 Hell must have frozen over because I finally agreed to move up here to the FROZEN TUNDRA. I sold off most of my belongings packed a U-Haul and brought my dog on the journey up north!
Shortly after my arrival in a casual conversation I had mentioned to a friend (Eric Berens) that I wished I could use a DSLR because my iPhone 4s at the time was not cutting it. Sometimes, life gives you exactly what you need when you need it. This friend had a Nikon D40 in his closet that he hadn't used for years and said I could borrow it. I took the first photo with it in my car and my mind was blown!! The clarity, depth of field, range of color it was amazing!! I walked around downtown and was taking photos of things, people, and trying to figure it all out and when I got home and uploaded the first photo day onto my computer I was hooked!! (These are some of the first 50 pictures I ever took with a DSLR)
My wife and I met one month after I moved to the Cities and she was always down to let me take pictures of our dogs and fun dates that we went on. I could not believe how much I enjoyed taking photos. My photography subjects changed from our dogs to our daughter in June of 2014. It was right around this time I was on a personal development journey attempting to be the best human being I could to set a positive example and provide for my daughter. My passion for photography grew and grew and the opportunities were rolling in. Do you take headshots? Sure. Do you do newborn photos? Sure. Do you do weddings? Sure. Will you take photos for our business? Sure. Can you photograph our family reunion? Sure! Before I knew it I was building a pretty broad but exciting portfolio. It was in 2015 that I took a coworkers family photos for him that I really found out what I enjoyed. Working with families in Andover, Minnesota and surrounding areas has been so much fun.
Not only do I love taking photos but, because my background is in leadership I have always loved teaching as well. I find myself talking to people about cameras and family photos quite often when I visit new peoples homes. I wanted to continue my progression into photography and that involved some pretty heavy investments into my equipment! In July of 2016 our second daughter was born. This was such a magical experience now having two girls! It was at this time that the passion for photography needed to become a business, a real functioning business. ADH Creative Solutions LLC was established in October of 2016. Right in the middle of FALL FAMILY PHOTOSHOOTS! As I continue to gain more experience and work with more clients the knowledge base has become quite substantial.
Because I love photography, business, development and teaching in 2017 the Podcast came into the picture. Most people find me because of my photography but they quickly realize how much I like talking about business, entrepreneurship and personal development. I have met a ton of great people in the process. "The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans" is the podcast that is available on iTunes and Stitcher. If people are interested in learning about business they can learn a lot of things for FREE. I also love teaching people how to use their own cameras. If you want to learn more click on the WEBINAR tab up top.
I am a portrait and family photographer currently located in Andover Minnesota. Andover is a perfect place to raise a family and I can't wait to assist with your family photos, learning how to use your camera or helping you launch a Successful Side Gig. I will be packing my schedule with Families, Seniors and several couples for Wedding and Engagement shoots and look forward to expanding the business throughout 2018 and 2019.
