After living in Andover, Minnesota for several years with three young children and working as a Professional Family Photographer owning ADH Creative Solutions LLC, I have learned that we have access to some pretty beautiful parks that are very close by in the north of Minneapolis suburbs. Most people love Minnesota because of the amazing lakes. After all, we do have just a couple of them. When you think about where to take family photos it is important to think about the types of photos you are looking to have taken. Are you a fan of natural backgrounds? Do you want or need to bring any props? Is there an activity that you love to do as a family that allows people to see your personalities? I think it is important to leave yourself with a couple different options which is why I love these three parks so much. 1. Bunker Hills Park, AndoverMy favorite, by far, and also highest requested location is hands down, Bunker Hills Park. It is a wonderful park with a ton of area and different types of scenery. If you are interested in large trees this park has you covered. It has a small playground, walking paths and a concrete staircase that makes for some really cool photos as well. It has lots of wildflowers and a large picnic pavilion. Ohh, and a tank, yes a TANK! I have never come across any other park that can say this. It is an Anoka County Regional park so it does require a season pass or a $6 entry fee. 2. Lion's Coon Creek Park, Coon RapidsIf you are looking for a spectacular natural area and a lot of greenery then we have another gem right off Hanson and Highway 10 and that is Lions Coon Creek Park. This park is beautiful during the summer with lush greenery and offers pretty vibrant fall colors as well. My favorite element of this park is it's bridge! I have always loved family photos on bridges. A random tip about this park is the mosquitos are INTENSE during the summer so make sure you pack bug spray or you will get eaten up. 3. Lake George Regional Park, Oak GroveIf you are looking for a mixture of great landscapes, beautiful trees and also want to take some photos in the water than you need to think about a different type of park. Lake George Regional Park has multiple elements which are fantastic for family photos. It has a dock, playground, picnic area and beach. It is also an Anoka County Regional park so it does require a season pass or a $6 entry fee. So there you have it. Three great parks for Andover family photos. When people hear going "up north" in Minnesota that means from the cities jumping on the highway and driving for a couple hours passing by lakes, beautiful scenery and hopefully ending up at a nice quiet cabin or house to spend some time. For Rachel and Ethan it meant finding their way to Barn In the Woods in Bovey. Right when you think you are in the middle of no where, it shines like a wedding oasis for us to celebrate this beautiful couple. Witnessing this couple together and seeing the group of friends they had in their wedding party was nothing short of amazing. They share the passions of careers, they have worked at camps together and are such a kind genuine group I felt honored to be able to capture this wedding and cannot wait to finish these images for the lovely couple. Heading over to the TPC Twin Cities Golf Course in Blaine I got such a rush knowing how fun this wedding was going to be!! For anyone in the network of Dee and Jon I think it must be a pre requisite you have to be an absolute blast and enjoy dirty jokes ;) The love in this family was so evident. I don't know if I have ever heard more people laugh and smile at the ceremony, reception, speeches and dance floor. What an amazing balance of joy and raw emotion from everyone who shared this day with them. When Leigh and Alex reached out to me about being their wedding photographer I could not have been more excited. Obviously, September 11th is a day that no one can forget but, this lovely couple will now have a new memory for the day and for them, a day to celebrate their love. This also was the third wedding I have shot for this large family and they even accepted me in as an honorary Boser :) I guess I am a certified Boser Family Photographer now! I know that this year was a challenge for a lot of people and to hear about the love and to see the people come together in celebration of this wedding was very special and uplifting!. The ceremony was at the beautiful, House of Hope Presbetyrian Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The wedding party then hopped onto a rocking party bus to meet everyone at the Vadnais Heights commons for the reception and a night filled with delicious food, ice cream, fun, drinks and dancing! Quite a few people enjoyed some celebratory cigars as well! If you are interested in seeing the entire gallery of this wedding when it is ready please click the button below and sign up. We all certainly knew how to celebrate the wedding of Leana and Joe! For anyone who knows these two, they certainly love spending time on the water listening to a little Aerosmith or Bon Jovi. So after the ceremony it was straight out to Lake Minnetonka to board the beautiful, Bella Vista for an evening of delicious food, drinks, smiles, laughter, tears and pure wedding bliss! I was honored to be their chosen twin cities wedding photographer and would not have been able to capture the day without the help of my right hand man, AJ Haines. Also this couple had a pretty sweet line up of people which all made the day possible. June 5th, 2021 turned out to be a wonderful day to get married! Often times when you hear that people are having a backyard wedding you may think that it will be a decent size backyard but this property was absolutely AMAZING!!! The yard was HUGE, it had a forest, pond, garden and plenty of lush greenery and it was a photographers dream. Breahna and Andrew had so much love shared with them from family and friends on their day. It may have been a little hot (99 degrees) but that made the summer breeze feel that much better. I will tell you one thing that probably didn't help the heat was FIREBALL but several people in the wedding gave it a "shot"!!! I had sooo much fun working with these families and seeing some familiar faces from past weddings. Extra shout out to Becca (Bride from a wedding I photographed in 2018) a bridesmaid who is going to have a baby any day now and toughed it out in the near 100 degree heat! I was honored that ADH Creative Solutions LLC was their chosen twin cities wedding photographer. SNEAK PEEK#SPIEGELBOELLSSeptember 26th, 2020 will go down in the record books for sure! When Colleen and August originally reached out to me to photograph their wedding it was going to be another place and another time. COVID-19 definitely changed everyone's world and plans. This amazing couple decided well, I guess we could just buy an epic house and throw it in the backyard instead. SO, THAT THEY DID!
The day had a 15% chance of rain that turned into a 100% chance right before the ceremony. This couple has a ton of amazing people in their lives who swooped in to quickly assemble tents and allow the wedding ceremony to proceed as planned. I cannot believe how powerful it was to see you all keep a great attitude throughout the day and truly let your love run the day and not let anything hinder your experience! It was wet, it was wild, SOOOOOO many White Claws were killed in the making of this marriage. HAHAHA I feel so unbelievably grateful to have been the one to capture the wedding day festivities and cannot wait to share the wedding gallery with you all. "Do we really need a wedding album?" |
